Both Maps come from George Taylor and Andrew Skinner's 'Maps of The Roads of Ireland' Surveyed in 1777 and published for the authors on the 14th November 1778 in London.

Edmund Sexten Pery [Photo Courtesy Public Record Office of Northern Ireland]The atlas that contained these maps was commissioned by the House of Commons and is dedicated to the Speaker of the House, Edmund Sexten Pery. The Index for the very detailed road maps gives distances in both English and Irish miles, and topographic detail shows hills, meadows, forests, churches, houses, etc., most of the houses also showing the owners' names.

The British Library has a manuscript map of New York, Staten Island, and part of Long Island signed by Taylor and Skinner, and dated 1781, executed to the order of General Henry Clinton.
