In 1814 Richard Keane (1780-1855) married Eliza, widow of Samuel Penrose of Waterford. They had two sons, John Henry and Leopold.

According to Griffith's Valuation, Leopold was the lessor of a number of properties in Cappoquin and the occupier of a bake house, flour mill, wood stores and a timber yard.

He lived in Lismore until 1880 when he moved to a house called 'Tivoli' near the family seat in Cappoquin. Leopold rose from the rank of captain in 1871 to Colonel by the time of  his retirement in 1885. He was married to Charlotte ...........? In 1851 Leopold and his wife were returning to their home after a dinner at Richmond House in Cappoquin when a number of men tried to shoot them. The assassination attempt was unsuccessful.
