"Established in 1916, the Military Medal is conferred to non-commissioned officers and men & women of the Royal Army for acts of bravery. The decoration is circular and bears the image of the sovereign. The reverse bears the cypher of the sovereign surmounted by the Royal Crown, and the words "For Bravery in the Field. A laurel-wreath surrounds the Cypher and words."
