In tracing WWI veterans it is fair to say that no one source will provide you with all the information you may need. However, as was found in the preparation of this site, a combination of one or more of the resources below is the best way to start. For example if we have exact details of name and battalion number (eg from the CWGC site), any of the other sites are more than capable of filling in some of the background details. In the case of Sgt. Healy, once we knew his Battalion number we were then able to make assumptions as to where he may have served, based on battalion history. If anyone knows of any other such resources, please email us. For brief histories of the Irish Regts. in WW1 click here. 1. Commonwealth War Graves Commission 2. British Public Records Office 3.
