Famine Sites - 1. Introduction
From 1847 increasing numbers of destitute people were applying for admission to the workhouse. With thousands of applicants and room for only 600 the guardians were forced to rent any available stores or private houses in Dungarvan. This exhibition gives a brief, but illustrated account of the local famine sites.
